Doc and I decided on a special anniversary dinner at Man…that’s crazy expensive…resa! The service was impeccable I must admit. Very attentive and professional. However, they did have the maitre’d serving the wine with the courses and when asked a question he was like “oh I’m just the maitre’d”. So that was not so great but he was very polite none the less.
Food: At first we were like really our bill is going to be what! for this!? Really I can only say that 3 out of the 12 courses were good. At one point I leaned over to Doc and said “really!? This is kashi cereal with some brown stuff mixed in!” So we started filling up on their delicious fresh baked bread, but then course 6 comes out which was a version of a salad that was delicious! Then they brought out venison with a saffron spin on it and it was great! My favorite was their roasted porcini chestnut broth. Exquisite except that it had these crunchy chip like things that sadly cheapened the dish. Please forgive my lack of description to these dishes they were very small, which was expected, and we even took the menu home so we could write about it but the menus description is not helpful the day after.
Wine: The wine was all very tasty but my favorite that I will look for and order was a 2010 De Toren Fusion V Bordeaux Blend Stellenbosch from South Africa. Very smooth and complex.
Overall an experience…..a very expensive, but still a one time thing you should try if you can compose yourself at the end when you get the bill so you don’t fall off your chair.
